<p>Following on from our announcement last year, we’ll soon be sunsetting the PlayStation 4 version of Predecessor.</p><p>Predecessor has been unlisted on the PlayStation 4 store for some time now, but still playable for anyone who had already downloaded the game. Starting next week however we’ll be discontinuing support completely, meaning even those with the game downloaded and installed will be unable to play going forwards.</p><p>While it will no longer be possible to play on PS4 after this point, game data tied to a PlayStation 4 account will be preserved, meaning you can recover your account data anytime, even after the sunset date.</p><p>The exact date when we&#39;ll be discontinuing support for PlayStation 4 is January 14th, coinciding with the V1.3 Game Update.</p><h4>Moving from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5</h4><p>Simply log in with the same PlayStation account you used previously on your PlayStation 4 and you’ll be right back in the action on your PlayStation 5, with account progress, purchases etc. all ready and waiting for you.</p><h4>Moving from PlayStation 4 to Xbox, Steam or Epic Games</h4><p>Account migration will be releasing shortly and will allow you to migrate your data from PlayStation 4 to any other platform.               <p>The Battlepass has 30 levels to unlock, each level offering a unique reward. </p><p>You can play for free, earning Winterfest XP with each match you play. As you gain more XP you&#39;ll surpass more levels of the Battlepass, unlocking more rewards as you go such as new sprays, icons and the event exclusive Yuletide Zinx skin! </p>

<p>Greetings Champions!</p><p>Missed our Livestream earlier this week? Here’s a handy breakdown (<i>with timestamped links to the stream VOD</i>) of everything we revealed that’s coming soon to Predecessor!</p><h2 id="winterfest-2024" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Winterfest 2024</h2><p>It’s almost time to wrap up warm again Champions, with the return of Predecessor’s annual Winterfest event!</p><p>This year our teams have been hard at work on significantly stepping up the event, packing it full of more content, more rewards, and more polar polish than ever before.</p><p>Explore a beautifully frozen battlefield and keep warm in the heat of battle by working through an all-new 5 week Winterfest Battlepass!</p><div class="aspect-video w-full"><lite-youtube videoid="EUOFU92W2wU" params="iv_load_policy=3&amp;showinfo=0&amp;rel=0&amp;cc_load_policy=1&amp;cc_lang_pref=en&amp;enablejsapi=1&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.predecessorgame.com&amp;start=247" style="background-image:url(&#x27;https://i.ytimg.com/vi/EUOFU92W2wU/maxresdefault.jpg&#x27;)"></lite-youtube></div><p>That’s right, this year’s Winterfest event is chock full of rewards for you to earn, spread across 30 levels to battle through. There’s both premium and free tracks, giving you flexibility to take part in a way that works for you. Take on the free track for select cosmetics and some free overhead emotes (more on those later) or jump into the paid track for exclusive skins, variants and even more festive cosmetics.</p><p>Winterfest will run from early December to early January. Don’t miss out!</p><h2 id="ranked-mode" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Ranked Mode</h2><p>Ranked Mode has been similarly worked on and we’re excited to share some big changes coming soon as well as touch upon further changes that will be coming in the new year.</p><div class="aspect-video w-full"><lite-youtube videoid="EUOFU92W2wU" params="iv_load_policy=3&amp;showinfo=0&amp;rel=0&amp;cc_load_policy=1&amp;cc_lang_pref=en&amp;enablejsapi=1&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.predecessorgame.com&amp;start=686" style="background-image:url(&#x27;https://i.ytimg.com/vi/EUOFU92W2wU/maxresdefault.jpg&#x27;)"></lite-youtube></div><p>Firstly however some of you might have seen discussions about a Season 0 split. Originally we intended to split this season but after much thought and hard work from the teams, we’ve decided to keep it splitless, instead resetting when Season 1 hits the game in a subsequent update.</p><p>Season 1 will run for much of 2025 - split into 4 periods (splits) - and it’ll feature a number of changes and improvements based on feedback and data from the current period of Ranked Mode.</p><p>On top of this we’re working on new systems that will let you swap your position, Hero and even Role in Draft, giving you unprecedented flexibility. We’re also working on a second Ban Phase, adding a further layer of strategy, and a slow decay system for players sitting at higher ranks to encourage a more competitive rank ceiling that ticks away at players who get a little too comfy or choose to rest on their laurels.</p><p>For update V1.2 we’re removing promotion matches in mid-tier divisions. For example, if you’re in Silver 2 and your next match will take you over the VP threshold for Silver 1, a win will take you straight into that tier rather than needing to win a specific promotion match. This does not apply when going up divisions though; promotion matches are still in place for getting from Silver 1 to Gold 3 for example.</p><p>We’ve also heard your feedback on server locations, particularly surrounding a North America Central (NAC) server for those taking part in Ranked Mode in that region. We’re exploring this possibility and will share more news on this at a later date.</p><p>Lastly we’ll be building on the changes announced in this week’s Toxicity Blog, including higher VP penalties for players who AFK, while implementing a system that mitigates VP loss for players who find an AFK’er on their team.</p><h2 id="ea-skin-bundles" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">EA Skin Bundles</h2><p>Earlier in the Season we asked the community for input on how we could make good on our promise to make the exclusive EA skins available to those who played in Early Access but didn’t have access to the bundles at the time.</p><div class="aspect-video w-full"><lite-youtube videoid="EUOFU92W2wU" params="iv_load_policy=3&amp;showinfo=0&amp;rel=0&amp;cc_load_policy=1&amp;cc_lang_pref=en&amp;enablejsapi=1&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.predecessorgame.com&amp;start=1359" style="background-image:url(&#x27;https://i.ytimg.com/vi/EUOFU92W2wU/maxresdefault.jpg&#x27;)"></lite-youtube></div><p>Thanks to your great feedback we’re excited to share that that new variants of these skins will be arriving soon!</p>

These are more powerful versions of their early game counterparts with each River Bug <i>evolving</i> as a fight goes on.</p><div class="aspect-video w-full"><lite-youtube videoid="EUOFU92W2wU" params="iv_load_policy=3&amp;showinfo=0&amp;rel=0&amp;cc_load_policy=1&amp;cc_lang_pref=en&amp;enablejsapi=1&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.predecessorgame.com&amp;start=1574" style="background-image:url(&#x27;https://i.ytimg.com/vi/EUOFU92W2wU/maxresdefault.jpg&#x27;)"></lite-youtube></div><p>Evolved River Bugs are larger, have more health and most importantly, offer stronger versions of their Buffs when killed:</p><ul><li><p><b>GREY</b>: Increased Movement Speed and <b>Out of Combat Movement Speed</b></p></li><li><p><b>PINK:</b> Ability Damage and <b>Ability Haste</b></p></li><li><p><b>GREEN:</b> Shield and <b>the Shield now explodes on depletion, damaging and Slowing nearby Enemies</b></p></li><li><p><b>ORANGE:</b> Attack Speed and <b>Omnivamp</b></p></li></ul><p>River Bugs evolve at the 21 minute mark, becoming a viable power spike in the mid game.</p><p>Our goal is to make these mini-objectives more meaningful as points of contest throughout the game, encouraging more combat at these locations later in the game.</p><h3 id="buff-transfers" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Buff Transfers</h3><p>Jungle Buffs are also seeing some mechanical changes soon too!</p><p>The Red and Blue Buffs will be able to transfer to whoever kills the Buffs&#39; owner, offering opportunities to gain these buffs in new ways while helping protect against early Jungle invasions, giving players the chance to recover a stolen buff.</p><h3 id="empowered-orb-prime-recall" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Empowered Orb Prime Recall</h3><p>We’re also adding a new type of buff called Empowered Orb Prime Recall which, you guessed it, you can get from taking down Orb Prime or a Mini Orb.</p><p>Once an Orb Prime has been dispatched, all living allied Champions with the Orb Prime Buff gain this new empowered recall for the duration of the Orb Prime buff, whereas for Mini Orb it’s only for the Champion who last-hits the Mini Orb who gets it.</p><p>With it you can return to base in half the time of a usual recall (just 4s!) using a unique new recall effect. We hope this will help players more strategically and quickly redeploy while retaining more momentum on the field.</p><h2 id="projectile-speed-changes" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Projectile Speed Changes</h2><p>Following feedback we’ve increased the speed of projectiles, making them roughly 3x faster.</p>

            <p>This should make basic ranged attacks feel more reliable, making it easier to land shots without having to lead them quite so specifically.</p><h2 id="map-adjustments" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Map Adjustments</h2><p>We’ve made a few small tweaks to the map, mainly focusing on the Jungle for 1.2.</p><p>Spaces around objectives have been opened up a little bit more, to make some areas feel less cramped and to remove some choke points that could be camped. Half walls now make it easier to see who’s engaging in some areas of the jungle, which can also be more easily traversed by Heroes who have access to verticality.</p><div class="aspect-video w-full"><lite-youtube videoid="EUOFU92W2wU" params="iv_load_policy=3&amp;showinfo=0&amp;rel=0&amp;cc_load_policy=1&amp;cc_lang_pref=en&amp;enablejsapi=1&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.predecessorgame.com&amp;start=2379" style="background-image:url(&#x27;https://i.ytimg.com/vi/EUOFU92W2wU/maxresdefault.jpg&#x27;)"></lite-youtube></div><p>Objective pits like Fangtooth and Orb Prime have been flattened to make for a wider space for team fights and engagements while similarly making it harder to miss a blink when trying to escape the pit.</p><h2 id="teleporters" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Teleporters</h2><p>In one of the biggest shakeups to Predecessor in years, we’re adding Runic Teleporters to the game!</p><div class="aspect-video w-full"><lite-youtube videoid="EUOFU92W2wU" params="iv_load_policy=3&amp;showinfo=0&amp;rel=0&amp;cc_load_policy=1&amp;cc_lang_pref=en&amp;enablejsapi=1&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.predecessorgame.com&amp;start=2671" style="background-image:url(&#x27;https://i.ytimg.com/vi/EUOFU92W2wU/maxresdefault.jpg&#x27;)"></lite-youtube></div><p>Runic Teleporters are new map structures that allow players to quickly travel from one side of the map to another, creating more strategic depth when it comes to map control, creating complex interactions between lanes and adding a little more risk to each of the side lanes.</p><p>In 1.2 there will be two Runic Teleporters, one in the Offlane and one in the Duo Lane. These new structures live on the outer edges of the lanes and feature runic circles on the ground that when stood on for a short period of time, will launch the Hero across the map to the other Lane’s Runic Teleporter.</p><p>Each Teleporter comes online roughly 10 minutes into a match, and takes a couple of seconds to charge up before it’ll launch you (and any allies within the circle at the time). Once you’ve used a teleporter there’s a short personal cooldown before you can use it again.</p><p>If an enemy steps onto a Teleporter while you’re charging it up, its charge progress will pause until that enemy steps off again.</p><p>Once a Teleporter has been used or stepped off of it’ll begin to discharge for the same amount of time it was charged for. You can leverage this discharge time to get off a quicker teleport than if you stepped onto a fully discharged Teleporter!</p><p>Runic Teleporters aren’t subtle. You’ll be sent hurtling across the battlefield in a bright aerial arc, obvious to anyone on the map who might be looking up at the time. Likewise you’ll get a dramatic view of the fight from above, giving you a brand new strategic perspective!</p><p>This new traversal mechanic adds a substantial amount of depth and strategy to both outside lanes. We can’t wait to see how you use it!</p><h2 id="brawl-mode-all-heroes" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Brawl Mode - All Heroes</h2><p>Ever wanted to 5v5 all Iggy on Brawl Mode? The ‘Extras’ store has you covered!</p><h2 id="emote-wheel" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Emote Wheel</h2><p>Last but not least we’re pleased to share a new Emote Wheel system coming in 1.2.</p><p>This new customisable wheel offers you multiple slots to equip different sprays and emotes, adjustable in the system menu.</p><p>Not only is this feature highly requested, but with so many sprays in the game already it’s impossible to pick just one to use in each match! <p>Hello,<br/><br/>It’s Omeda_Zuzu with the news from Player Experience Team!</p><p>It’s been a while since the last time we updated you on the state of toxicity in Predecessor, so we’re back to fill you in on all the details of how things are currently going, and tell you all about some new improvements we&#39;ve been cooking up over the last few months!</p><h2 id="upcoming-toxicity-changes" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Upcoming Toxicity Changes</h2><p>We&#39;re aiming to introduce a number of improvements to combat toxicity in the near future - starting with some of the biggest toxicity pain points that we’ve seen reported within the community, whilst also increasing visibility and transparency on action we take against the players who ruin the experience for others. </p><p>What we will describe below is only part of our efforts to tackle toxicity. There are already more systems in development and the ones we’re talking about today will be constantly monitored, built upon and adjusted as necessary.</p><h2 id="afkdisconnect-detection" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">AFK/Disconnect Detection</h2><p>One of the most infamous ways to ruin a match is to go idle in base, or “AFK”. </p><p>With our new systems coming soon, ruining the game this way will be much more difficult. </p><p>If the game detects no activity for a period of time at the start of the game, the match will stop and the offending player will be appropriately penalized. The match itself will not be recorded and the rest of the players will not suffer any of the downsides of the forfeited match: no VP loss, or undeserved bans for those who have not gone AFK. </p><p>For AFKs happening later in the game, our approach will be different.</p><p>The game will go on, but the player who has been identified as an AFK&#39;er will not be able to vote in a surrender vote, which will remove their power to hold their team hostage in a match if they wish to leave early.</p><p>In case the team wins, even despite the efforts of the AFK’er to sabotage the game, the AFK’er will not receive their share of rewards - in addition to being punished for their disruptive behaviour.<br/><br/>This system is subject to change and fine-tuning based on data and feedback we receive.</p><p>There will also be changes to surrendering mechanics in general to make it more difficult to sabotage the game by repeatedly initiating surrender votes. </p><p>We’re introducing changes to surrender timers with 1.2 : we’re increasing the time between surrender votes from 1.5 minutes to 5.<br/><br/>In Ranked there are no limits to how many times the vote can be initiated.</p><p>In Standard each player gets only a single opportunity to initiate a surrender each game. Use it wisely. </p><h2 id="automatic-afk-punishments" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Automatic AFK Punishments</h2><p>We want to underline that our new AFK detection system will automatically sanction players without the need for human review.&nbsp;&nbsp;That means that the offending player will receive a suspension or ban. </p><h2 id="report-feedback" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Report Feedback</h2><p>We are aware that currently the in-game reports feel underwhelming due to the lack of feedback to confirm whether or not the report was actioned.</p><p>We’re happy to announce that this will be changing soon, with the implementation of a new system that will let you know once your in-game report has contributed to an action taken against the reported player. </p><p>We hope that by increasing visibility over reporting outcomes we&#39;re able to both validate your efforts for contributing to a healthier community whilst also better showcasing the effectiveness of the system, something we know many would like to know more about.</p><p>We’re hoping to get this feature ready in the next few weeks.</p><h2 id="chat" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Chat</h2><p>We believe that chat moderation is in a good state - our AI solution, GGWP, has been in place since the beginning of 2023, and it has been taking action against toxic players for over a year now. </p><p>That&#39;s a long time for both our team and the AI to learn more about player behaviour. The AI itself has gotten pretty good at differentiating between acceptable in-game banter and purposefully malicious communications, and we&#39;ve taken on board player feedback during this time to fine tune the severity of certain phrases to further improve it&#39;s differentiation.</p><p>We know that it&#39;ll never be perfect however due to the constant evolution of communication, so expect continued improvements as time goes on.</p><p>We are also happy to report that we have seen very few false positives in the last couple of months.</p><p>We are aware that some creative players do sometimes manage to find ways to get around the chat restrictions and we regularly adjust the system to be able to detect these scenarios better. That being said, we appreciate your reports greatly and they have been very helpful in aiding that process. We’re aware that there are still some rare instances of players saying hurtful things and we’re doing our best to keep them to an absolute minimum. If you see players trying to dodge the system to be abusive, don’t hesitate to report them, we’ll take care of them.</p><p>As there is some misinformation circulating about how chat moderation works in Predecessor, here&#39;s a little refresher:</p><ul><li><p>Our system is reputation-based: which means the player’s penalty is calculated on the entirety of their in-game behaviour so far. If they were a good egg and this is their first time being toxic, their penalty would be shorter than someone who said the same thing but has a history of consistent negative behaviour.</p></li><li><p>Our tool covers 18 languages - being toxic in languages other than English will also result in a penalty. </p></li><li><p>While we welcome your feedback on many aspects of our game, let it be known that we don’t plan to change our stance about the use of derogatory language, threats and verbal abuse in Predecessor - we will not tolerate such things in our game, nor should our players. </p></li><li><p>Toxicity in response to toxicity is still toxicity and action will be taken accordingly. Please don’t let the toxic players lower your reputation - if you spot abuse, please report it, mute the player, and let us take care of it.</p></li></ul><h2 id="player-reports" class="scroll-mt-52 lg:scroll-mt-24">Player reports</h2><p>We are well aware that in a competitive game such as ours, emotions can fly high and the temptation to ruin the game can on some occasions be too strong for some individuals, to the detriment of everybody else&#39;s experience. We’ve spoken about our plans for the near future - let’s talk about what is happening right now. </p><h5>How do we handle reports at the moment?</h5><p>We process all player reports you submit. Some of them are actioned automatically, whereas others are reviewed by humans and action is taken accordingly, once their offence has been validated.</p><h5>Which way of reporting is better? In-game report or support portal report?</h5><p>Please use the in-match and post-match reporting systems for all player reports.  These direct reports are immediately collected and processed by our anti-toxicity systems, and are necessary to trigger the Report Feedback system to inform you when action has been taken. </p><h5>Can one report contribute to somebody’s ban?</h5><p>In the most extreme cases, yes, but in majority of normal instances we need to see the pattern of bad behaviour reported by different players before we revoke someone’s access to the game. </p><p>Like in most games, just because somebody reports you doesn’t mean that action will be taken. </p><p>We also check player’s individual circumstances - new players for example can sometimes be reported for not being good at the game and while we appreciate this could be frustrating for more experienced players, it’s not a bannable offence.</p><h5>Will you share specific details of punishments for reported players?</h5><p>Our goal is to punish offending players, not to incite witch-hunts. We believe restricting one’s access to the game is punishment enough - the point of it all being to stop the offending player from ruining your game. </p><p>We hope that the incoming feedback system for in-game reporting will help to provide enough clarity to ensure players know when their reports have been dealt with.</p><h5>What are the bannable offences?</h5><p>You can be banned for various lengths of time for any of the following:</p><ul><li><p>Going AFK in the game</p></li><li><p>Evading an existing ban</p></li><li><p>Cheating</p></li><li><p>Impersonating members of the Omeda Dev Team</p></li><li><p>Intentionally feeding</p></li><li><p>Intentionally ruining a match</p></li></ul><p>Penalties are shorter for first offences, but can ramp up as far as permanent suspension. </p><p>While chat offences will usually result in chat penalties, in extreme cases a chat phrase can be a reason for a ban on its own. If a player is toxic in the chat in addition to displaying a game-ruining behaviour, they might also receive a harsher penalty.</p><h5>Are there any wrongly applied bans?</h5><p>At the moment, all the gameplay bans are manually applied by a human - action is only taken if there’s solid proof that the player in question is displaying bad behaviour - consistently or to an extreme degree. There isn’t much room for error in our reviews. </p><h5>Why are the results of my report not immediately visible?</h5><p>As we mentioned, there’s an entire verification process that needs to take place before a player can be penalized. We are working on speeding things up, so watch this space.</p><h5>How do you make sure that systems can’t be abused and used to troll innocent players? </h5><p>We have several systems in place that prevent the abuse of our moderation process. Since the system is also based in GGWP, player reputation comes into play once again - though it should be noted that it’s a separate system from the chat one.</p><p>We have a way of differentiating between reliable reporters and people who might or might not be trolling. Reports made by players who have accurately reported bad behaviour in the past can hold more weight than those of players who spam reports&nbsp;&nbsp;every match.</p><p><br/>And that’s it!
